Great location, close to Kyoto station. The loft B has a gorgeous view on the temple. The room is spacious, with a separate toilet. The kitchenette is functional. The dimmable lighting in the living area is a great feature. The staff is very courteous, helpful and friendly. We borrowed an instant camera, paying a fee for the films, a coffee maker and a chess game. You can borrow a good old vinyl player and vinyl discs! The temple is worth the visit, as well as the garden (entrance fee) behind the hotel. If we were to come back, we'll probably try the 2 bedroom suite, not sure if it has the nice temple view, though.

The view was definitely the highlight, as you get access to the full panorama view of Higashi Honganji Temple across the road. Other than that, the room itself was spacious and came with all the quintessential amenities. Bunk beds with personal sockets are also great if you are traveling as a group of friends. The staff were extremely helpful and flexible. - Even though the official check-in time was 4pm, we were able to do it way earlier than that since the room was ready. - If you don't need room cleaning, they will give you a box of matcha cookies in lieu, which was very thoughtful. - They can also help you to exchange coins for laundry machines and recommend places to visit & eat. Finally, there is free coffee from 8-12pm, and tea after that, which is cherry on top for an excellent stay.

We were wowed by this property. All 4 of us (2 adults to kids 15 & 11) loved the fact that we had our own double bed!! Travelling around Japan can be quite exhausting and so to have your own space at night was wonderful. The bathroom was fabulous! The kids had a water fight in it! The kitchen was super too. The location was absolutely spot on. 5 mins from the main train station so not too far to lug your luggage around and opposite the most fabulous temple. Really was a gem find! Near all restaurants too!

We stayed in loft B and in loft D. Loft B was an excellent set up with lovely views of the temple. We really enjoyed it. Loft D was also an excellent setup. The beds were larger than Loft B which was good for our teenagers and there was a door between the living space and bedrooms allowing for different sleep schedules. However, the outlook from loft B was beautiful which made for a great atmosphere.

Location was terrific, the hotel was situated a short walk from Kyoto station. From the hotel, there are gorgeous views of the temple across the street. The room was spacious and clean, with modern amenities such as a Dyson hairdryer and humidifier included. The hotel offered a rental service of household appliances which was free of charge. Staff spoke fluent English, which was extremely helpful. Perfect place to stay for our family of four, and we would definitely come back.

The location was perfect with the Higashi Honganji Temple as our main view and that it was less than a 10 min walk from the Kyoto Station. First, I love how the whole hotel is keyless so no need to carry a card to lose. The hotel and rooms are accessed by a code you are given. I love the layout of the room (plan B) and that the bunk beds were bigger than a regular twin. There were 5 of us, so 4 of us took the beds and my son took the couch. The couch was very hard and firm even to sit on let alone lay on. The room was equipped with a mini fridge with a little freezer inside, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, ports and pans, etc. Anything not in your room can be rented at the lobby, which I love the concept of communal items. They had items from record players, speakers, air fryers, a Polaroid camera, decorations, etc. you name it, they probably had it! If you opt out of a room cleaning free three days, you receive a box of matcha cookies which were delicious! The hotel provides you with bottled water daily, though you can drink straight from the faucet. There is a 7-11 about a block away and a Lawson’s about 3 blocks away. I LOVED the shower! I like how the tub and shower are enclosed separately within the bathroom. The toilet is next door separate from the rest of the bathroom. The only thing that was a hassle was that there wasn’t a mini sink in the toilet room so you’re literally touching the doorknob with dirty hands since you would need to go the next door over to the bathroom. My husband loved the morning coffee and afternoon tea that is served daily. It’s also a big plus that there are two pairs of a washer/dryer. Heads up that the machines only take 100 yen. The washer cost 200 yen per load (5kg max - a bit small) and the dryer is 100 yen for 10 mins. Two loads in the washer was able to fit in one dryer (up to 8kg). It took approximately 20-30 mins to dry.

This hotel was really clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room felt more like an apartment than a hotel room and we loved that it had enough beds for our family of 4. The kids also really loved the bunk bed setup. I also liked that the room didn't have carpet (always gross in a hotel room). We also loved the system where we could borrow things from the lobby. We stayed in 4 hotels over our two weeks in Japan. This one was the cheapest and also the best (largest room size, cleanliness, bed setup, friendliest staff). I would highly recommend this place!

Loft B over New Year 2024 This place is absolutely perfect for a family base in Kyoto. Location: A quick 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station which is perfect if you’re coming down from Tokyo on the Shinkansen. Room: After staying in a typical tiny room in Tokyo, the rooms at 20 Pieces are pure luxury! The bunk beds are a perfect space saver and the kids loved it. The toilet is separate from rest of the bathroom. The bathroom is fantastic! 2 sinks and a big shower and tub. The shower and tub are awesome. There were 2 heating/cooling ceiling units which worked well. It did take some getting used to to find the right settings but they worked well. The kitchen is minimal with an induction cooktop, sink, electric kettle, and small toaster oven. We were able to save some money cooking our own meals. You don’t use a key to enter your room but instead have an access code on a digital keypad. One less thing to carry around. There were a number of things you could rent in the lobby. We only used the coffee maker. “Rent” is a bit misleading; It didn’t cost anything to rent the coffee maker. We were happy to be able to do our own laundry here. There are two washers and two dryers. I do wish there were more units though because they are small. It took 3 loads to do our laundry and we had to wait until very late into the night until the units were not being used. The view of Higashi Hongan-Ji Temple from our room was the icing on the cake. We would sit at the window in the mornings and evenings watching all the people visiting the temple. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Most of them spoke English well which was very helpful for us and we very much appreciated that. They helped us with tourist advice and also set up our luggage forwarding to the airport. We had our bags sent from the hotel to Narita airport. Note: it’s recommended to give this 3 days. They told us 2 days was enough but the company recommended 3 days which made us nervous.

The space in the room we had was great (Loft D). Had 4 queen size beds which is great for our family of 5. The room has a fire place that you can get the staff to light it up for you. Products used in the hotel are upscale. You can rent a variety of equipment/ glasses/ records, etc from the reception (no extra cost). We even had shabu shabu in our room one of the evenings. :) They don't do full cleaning up of the room, but offered you a box of cookies (they're very good!) if you skip the full cleaning on day 4 of your stay. Paid washer/ dryer on site, so very convenient if you want to wash your clothes.

Nice location, a short walk from the station, but in a quietist neighbourhood. Excellent kitchen facilities. The beds were all comfortable with their own lights and USB sockets. We had a loft C room and was plenty big enough for the 4 of us. The nearest tube was a few minutes walk and there was another about 10-15 mins walk.
