The location was perfect with the Higashi Honganji Temple as our main view and that it was less than a 10 min walk from the Kyoto Station. First, I love how the whole hotel is keyless so no need to carry a card to lose. The hotel and rooms are accessed by a code you are given. I love the layout of the room (plan B) and that the bunk beds were bigger than a regular twin. There were 5 of us, so 4 of us took the beds and my son took the couch. The couch was very hard and firm even to sit on let alone lay on. The room was equipped with a mini fridge with a little freezer inside, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, ports and pans, etc. Anything not in your room can be rented at the lobby, which I love the concept of communal items. They had items from record players, speakers, air fryers, a Polaroid camera, decorations, etc. you name it, they probably had it! If you opt out of a room cleaning free three days, you receive a box of matcha cookies which were delicious! The hotel provides you with bottled water daily, though you can drink straight from the faucet. There is a 7-11 about a block away and a Lawson’s about 3 blocks away. I LOVED the shower! I like how the tub and shower are enclosed separately within the bathroom. The toilet is next door separate from the rest of the bathroom. The only thing that was a hassle was that there wasn’t a mini sink in the toilet room so you’re literally touching the doorknob with dirty hands since you would need to go the next door over to the bathroom. My husband loved the morning coffee and afternoon tea that is served daily. It’s also a big plus that there are two pairs of a washer/dryer. Heads up that the machines only take 100 yen. The washer cost 200 yen per load (5kg max - a bit small) and the dryer is 100 yen for 10 mins. Two loads in the washer was able to fit in one dryer (up to 8kg). It took approximately 20-30 mins to dry.

The view was definitely the highlight, as you get access to the full panorama view of Higashi Honganji Temple across the road. Other than that, the room itself was spacious and came with all the quintessential amenities. Bunk beds with personal sockets are also great if you are traveling as a group of friends. The staff were extremely helpful and flexible. - Even though the official check-in time was 4pm, we were able to do it way earlier than that since the room was ready. - If you don't need room cleaning, they will give you a box of matcha cookies in lieu, which was very thoughtful. - They can also help you to exchange coins for laundry machines and recommend places to visit & eat. Finally, there is free coffee from 8-12pm, and tea after that, which is cherry on top for an excellent stay.

The hotel and room were amazing - one of the best hotels we've stayed at before, especially considering the fair price and great location. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. The amenities offered by the hotel - laundry for a small fee, free rental for items you might need, free coffee and tea, etc - all made the stay more enjoyable. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the room was spacious and relaxing to come back to after a long day of walking. And of course the location is very convenient. We would not hesitate to book another stay here next time we are in Kyoto. Few places deserve a 10/10 rating but 20 Pieces well deserves it - highly recommend!

Great location, close to Kyoto station. The loft B has a gorgeous view on the temple. The room is spacious, with a separate toilet. The kitchenette is functional. The dimmable lighting in the living area is a great feature. The staff is very courteous, helpful and friendly. We borrowed an instant camera, paying a fee for the films, a coffee maker and a chess game. You can borrow a good old vinyl player and vinyl discs! The temple is worth the visit, as well as the garden (entrance fee) behind the hotel. If we were to come back, we'll probably try the 2 bedroom suite, not sure if it has the nice temple view, though.

We were wowed by this property. All 4 of us (2 adults to kids 15 & 11) loved the fact that we had our own double bed!! Travelling around Japan can be quite exhausting and so to have your own space at night was wonderful. The bathroom was fabulous! The kids had a water fight in it! The kitchen was super too. The location was absolutely spot on. 5 mins from the main train station so not too far to lug your luggage around and opposite the most fabulous temple. Really was a gem find! Near all restaurants too!
